The quality of our horse bits is world-class. All our horse bits feature a barrel-jointed mouthpiece and independent movement in the bit bars. The barrel joint limits the nutcracker action of conventional snaffle bits and spreads pressure over a larger area.
These bits are designed to offer maximum comfort for the horse, resulting in a softer mouth and a more direct feel for the rider. The bits are manufactured using solid stainless steel with copper inlay. They are designed with copper through the roller and underneath the bit bars to promote a moist mouth and a relaxed jaw for the horse.
We have two styles of horse bits to choose from:
The Piped and Loose Ring Snaffle Bit –This bit is ideal for a rider wanting a direct feel.
The Western Dee Snaffle Bit - This is a soft bit ideal for camp drafters or stock riders who are looking for a direct feel and for young horses with a busy mouth.
All of these bits are available in 5 inch and 5.5 inch sizes, to suit your stock horse and quarter horse types. Our Western Dee bits are also available in 4.5 inch size for smaller breeds and ponies.
Please note: Our horse bits are not manufactured by Angus Barrett Saddlery in Australia, but they are still backed 100% by our Angus Barrett Saddlery quality guarantee.
Angus Barrett Saddlery Curb Straps are made from quality leather and are designed to fit snaffle bits.
The Curb Straps are available in two choices:
A curb strap is an important piece of equipment when competing at a campdraft, cutting competition, other sporting events and everyday horse work. The curb strap when used on a snaffle bit is designed to prevent the bit from slipping through the horse's mouth and to add control and precision to the bit, while the horse is being trained.
If added to a bit with leverage the curb strap creates a stopping point in the rotation of the bit causing the bars of the bit to be pushed down onto the tongue and amplifying the bit's pressure on the bottom of the horse's mouth.
The tightness of the curb strap will determine the speed and at which point the pressure will be added to the horse's mouth.
The Angus Barrett Saddlery Curb Straps are available in both Dark Natural and Natural, with the choice of solid Brass or Stainless Steel hardware.
