The quality of the raw material used and the craftmanship during construction are the starting point of a quality, reliable saddle. The 8 key elements above combined with craftmanship are what make these simple saddles match the highest safety quality standards in the world. The way we finish the saddles are what makes them feel comfortable and ready for years of work and play. An example of finishing is wetting, stretching and shaping the fenders and saddle skirts on the saddle to ensure that the leather is pre stretched and in the correct position for rider and horse. Oiling the leather in every crevice ensures that the leather is ready for work and will not be needing that detail of oil in the future. The saddles are oiled with our own oil and wax blend that is made inhouse by infusing animal neat’s-foot oil and beeswax to a specific mixture ensuring that the oil can penetrate deep into the leather taking with it a waxy nourishment and surface protection. Visible and external surfaces will need leather dressing and care into the future but only with a leather dressing not an oil. The core of the leather is treated here with oil/wax blend. A well-oiled saddle should not squeak. Dry leather squeaks!!
