How to prevent your mare kicking during the serving process

Our Serving Hobbles are a product that you buy once and can rely on year after year. Like all hobbles and restraints, these hobbles are not always necessary, but they are essential if you need to make the working environment safe for both the horse and handler during the serving process.

The Angus Barrett Saddlery Serving Hobbles ensure the mare can still move freely but prevents her from kicking. The hobbles allow the mare to remain stable and keep her balance.

To ensure a correct fit for all of your mares, our Serving Hobbles feature two points of adjustment. One around the neck with a buckle and the other under the chest with a pull tight, sliding buckle that slides into place.

The adjustment around the neck is the setting point and also the emergency release. The buckles are unique to Angus Barrett Saddlery. The collar buckle features a stainless steel 7mm pin for added strength under pressure and a solid roller to reduce the risk of the buckle jamming in the event of a required release.
Heavy duty chrome  harness leather is then double stitched for reinforcement around the buckle holes along the collar.

The adjustment under the chest is for finer adjustment and is designed so that it can be tightened easily at any moment during the serving process.
It features a unique sliding buckle which locks automatically when pressure is applied.

The sliding buckle on the chest piece is solid stainless steel and has an added plate to ensure it locks correctly when pressure is applied.

To maximise their strength and durability, the Serving Hobbles are made with a soft-touch webbing and 16mm double braided yatching rope.

The Fetlock Straps are made with a heavy harness leather that retains its strength but becomes supple with use to reduce rubbing.
