Angus Barrett Saddlery Split French Leather Reins are made from sticky saddle seat leather that is tanned in France. In our workshop, we call these reins our 'wow' reins because anyone who picks them up says "Oh wow, these are beautiful".
Angus came across this leather when he was making saddles in one of France's most exclusive saddleries. He handled the leather each day as he stretched and moulded it into the seats of show jumping saddles. This is when he realised the amazing strength and absolutely beautiful feel of the sticky, soft leather.
During the manufacturing process, these reins have been rolled and fully stitched for added strength.
The ends of the reins feature extremely durable skirting leather, with solid brass or stainless steel buckle joins to the bit. This makes the reins weighted at the bit.
