After 27 consecutive years of campaigning, Troy Palmer from Coolah, NSW is Australia's new campdrafting champion, winning the country's most prestigious campdraft, the 2017 Pryde's EasiFeed Warwick Gold Cup at the Warwick Showgrounds in Queensland on Sunday.  The competition started with 926 combinations, which came down to 38 in the finals. Troy then rode Richard Bull's Whos Divine to victory after a four-way run-off against  Tom Williamson, Steve Comiskey and Scott Bandy.

We spoke to Troy after his win and in typical style, he put the win down to some good fortune. "I had a bit of luck," he said.  We could hear the wry grin on his face! Troy first campaigned at Warwick at just age 16 and has been making the journey north to compete there every year since.  The win is a testament to Troy's hard work and determination over the years. Troy also achieved equal 2/3/4 in the Frasers Livestock Transport Stallion Draft, with Richard Bull's stallion Whos Top Cat (Sire to Whos Divine) and equal 2/3/4 in the Black Toyota Canning Downs Campdraft with his own stallion, Impressive Destiny.  Not a bad effort for an old timer!
